Reading without an account

One Sunnah does not require an account. You can read daily hadith, use the home-screen widget, and save favourites without providing your name or email. There are no advertisements or in-app purchases in this version.

Data stored on your device

The downloaded hadith collection, favourites, language, daily selection, widget preferences, notification preference, and diagnostics preference are stored on your device. Favourites and reading text are not uploaded as a personal library. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes this local data. The app disables Android cloud backup for its data.

Cloud content and notifications

Google Cloud Firestore supplies published content. Requests expose connection information, such as an IP address and technical request metadata, to the service provider. Internet access is needed for the first download and later updates. When you enable notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging uses an app installation identifier, a registration token, app/device metadata, and topic membership to deliver reminders. You can turn notifications off in Settings; the app then unsubscribes and requests deletion of its messaging token. Delivery depends on Android, connectivity, and the service sending reminders.

Optional diagnostics in version 1.0.0 and later

Analytics, crash-report transmission, and performance reporting are off by default. Starting with version 1.0.0 (build 15), optional diagnostics require a neutral, local age-group check and a fresh opt-in by a user aged 18 or older. The selected age group is not sent to a server; only the adult diagnostics consent is retained on the device. Younger or unknown-age readers cannot enable diagnostics and can continue reading without it. A previous diagnostics setting without this adult check does not enable collection in build 15. If you enable diagnostics in Settings, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring can process app interactions, installation/session identifiers, crash logs, device/app details, timing and network-performance measurements. Connection data may be used to derive coarse country/region information. We do not request location permission or GPS coordinates. These data help measure usage and fix reliability problems. Custom analytics events do not include hadith text, your name, or your email. Advertising identifier collection and advertising-personalisation consent are disabled in version 1.0.0 and later, including when diagnostics are enabled.

Earlier internal-test versions

Versions before 1.0.0 initialise Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring automatically and do not include the diagnostics switch described above. Those SDKs may collect the corresponding usage, diagnostic, installation, device, network, approximate-location and advertising-identifier data under their default settings. This distinction applies to internal-test version 0.6.4.

Controls and retention

In version 1.0.0 and later, turning diagnostics off stops subsequent diagnostic transmission, resets local Analytics data, and requests removal of unsent crash reports. Turning a feature off does not automatically erase records already received by a provider. Previously transmitted data remain subject to the retention settings and deletion capabilities of the relevant Firebase/Analytics service. No fixed retention period is claimed here. For a privacy or deletion request, email manca.fi@gmail.com; do not post personal information publicly. We may need relevant technical identifiers to locate records because the Android app has no user accounts. Clearing local storage does not erase provider records.

Providers, sharing and security

Firebase/Google provides content hosting, messaging, analytics and diagnostics. Data are transmitted over HTTPS. We do not sell personal data. Service providers may process data outside your country, including through their subprocessors, according to their applicable terms. We have not implemented independent end-to-end encryption or obtained an independent security certification. External links and sharing

Opening a source sends you to that publisher in your browser, where its own privacy policy applies. Sharing a hadith uses the app you choose through Android; you control the recipient and the text being shared.

Children and changes

One Sunnah does not offer a child account or ask children to submit contact details. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact the email above. Changes to this policy will carry a new date and will be made available with the app and its published privacy-policy page.
